News in brief ...

• In November-December 2008, KRASS elaborated a chapter entitled ‘Is sustainable agriculture possible in an unstable environment?’ for the GTZ/BMZ booklet entitled ‘The Aral Sea Disaster – From Crisis-dwelling to Problem-solving’.
• In June 2009 KRASS has started “Watercone®” Pilot project for Khorezm, Uzbekistan, sponsored by Unicorn Grocery, Great Britain.
• In July 2009 KRASS has started the implementation of a bigger project entitled “Dissemination of resource-saving technologies for sustainability of irrigated agriculture in the Khorezm region, Uzbekistan” mandated by: Small Grants Program, UNDP.
• In July-August 2009 UNESCO office in Tashkent is going to support KRASS with the purchase of the laser leveller and further will try to invite specialists from abroad (maybe the USA) for training and collaboration in the conservation agriculture practices.
• In August 2009 KRASS has prepared and submitted to the Elsevier Foundation a Project proposal on creation of a Child Care Center at the premises of Urgench State University. Evaluation results are due in autumn 2009.
